History
The Airedale Terrier comes from Great Britain and was formerly known as Coastal or Bingal terrier. In the 19th century this breed was used for a number of things like military operations, killing pests and hunting. This dog was first registered in the AKC in 1888.
Airedale Terriers are dogs that love games and the attention of their owners, sometimes puppies would do "everything" to get what they want.

Physical characteristics
The Airedale Terrier adul dog reaches a height of between 55 and 61 cm and weighs about 20 kg, making it the largest terrier. His body and head are elongated, but in the right proportions .The eyes are small and dark in colour.

Character and behavior

Grooming and care
The most characteristic and famous part of the Airedale Terrier is his beard, which must be maintained very carefully.
The ears are triangular in shape and fall down, and every four months they should be trimmed. The colour of his hair is light brown with black or red shades. It also needs regular maintenance.
His coat is healthy and solid even when the dog is still a puppy. Under the hard outer coat lies a soft interior. Hard rough brush is to be used several times a week to maintain the hair in a good shape. Resorting to bathing only when necessary.
Children and other pets

Interesting facts
The Airedale Terrier was used in World War I as a messenger and mail dog. These dogs helped the Red Cross finding wounded soldiers. There are a lot of stories of Airedales doing their job on the field despite awful injuries. An Airedale Terrier by the name of “Jack” ran through almost a mile under fire with a message. He reached the headquarters with broken jaw and splintered leg and dropped dead right after delivered the massage.
