Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a breed of dogs pertaining to the decorative type. Its predecessor, King Charles Spaniel was first created in England and was very popular during the Renaissance. It is one of the few breeds of spaniel type, referring to the decorative dogs. It is named after King Charles II, who was a huge fan of smaller spaniels.

The breed was first registered in the AKC in 1996.

Physical characteristics

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is very beautiful dog with big eyes and a healthy physique. His coat is long, straight and shiny, and his ears are large, falling on both sides of his face, giving innocent appearance. The shade of his hair may be in various colors - bright red, black and tricolor. Its weight reaches 5 - 7 kg and height is about 30 - 33 cm.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a dog that needs human companionship, he is the perfect pet for elderly people as it is not too active and has a calm temperament.

This is not a dog that will run in all directions. He will prefer to go quietly and slowly to his master. Since their clutches are too short, these dogs are not suitable for running.

His coat does not require too much care. It is recommended to brush it once a day. Pay special attention to the areas behind the ears, elbows and between rear paws.

You should bathe your pet once per month, using a gentle shampoo. Clean areas around the eyes regularly.
